I've put off writing this one for two issues because I wanted to actually watch the channel instead of just referencing the clips everyone's seen. So: Goatis. @GoatisReviews, north of 192,000 subscribers, built almost entirely around raw meat and a hard no on veganism.

The founding claim

He says he started the modern raw-meat movement — and the anti-vegan movement alongside it — in 2016. I can't verify that, and I'd guess he's not the only person who'd claim it. What I can verify: almost a decade in, over a thousand videos, and he's still putting out content regularly, including reacting to the TikToks people make about him, which is its own strange loop to watch.

Why this format specifically

Raw meat is just built for short video. It's visual, it splits opinion instantly, and a ten-second clip of raw liver gets a reaction a paragraph never will. Most of what circulates on TikTok is a fragment of a much longer YouTube video, stripped of whatever context it had — which is honestly most of why this newsletter exists. Someone sees fifteen seconds, gets curious or annoyed, and there's nowhere to go from there except another fifteen-second clip. I'd rather give people somewhere to actually land.

What this isn't

To be clear, this isn't Goatis's newsletter and he has nothing to do with it — I don't know him, he's not involved, I'm just writing about a channel I watch. If you found this because a clip of his showed up on your feed and you wanted the longer version of what's going on, that's exactly who this is for. Sign-up's below.
